For high-performing and gifted students competitions such as the World Mathematical Olympiad provide a once in a lifetime opportunity.

WMO Canada is looking for 12 talented students in mathematics from Grades 3 to 6 to form Team Canada 2019.

Team Canada will have two levels. Team members for Level 1 will be selected from grades 3 and 4, and team members for Level 2 will be selected from grades 5 and 6. If your child skipped or was held back a grade, they must write the competition that is age specific to the grade level.

our selection PROCESS

In preparation for the international competition, we will be undergoing a comprehensive selection process to determine who will represent Canada at the event. The participation for the preliminary rounds is available for any student from grades 3 to 6.

The selection process for Team Canada will consist of an average score from two preliminary rounds, with the top 100 (top 50 each from Level 1 and Level 2) invited to write the WMO National Canadian Finals at Spirit of Math head offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Ottawa on April 26, 2019.

After the competition, the top 6 students for Level 1 and Level 2 will form Team Canada 2019 and represent Canada at the 2019 WMO Global Finals in Thailand.

our training program

Practice will allow your child to compete at their best. Please use our online resources to help your child be fully prepared for the preliminary rounds as well as for the Canadian Finals.

Once your child is designated to be part of Team Canada, our coaches from WMO Canada will provide a three-phase training program.

This program will be standardized training along with an element of individualized training with pre-training material, two in-house training sessions in July 2019 and finally a post-training session.
